Successful completion of The College of

Saddle Fitting Level 4 Diploma

or equivalent

Course Duration: 

Twelve months maximum, can be completed 

sooner

COURSE OVERVIEW

​

This course aligns with Ofqual Level Descriptors for Level 5.

​

This course is fully flexible, with both theory modules and 5 day  practical training, enabling the student to work at their own pace.

​

Upon successful completion of the Level 4 Diploma in Saddle Fitting, this Level 5 course will provide saddle fitters with progression onto advanced knowledge when fitting the saddle to horse and rider.

​

SUBJECTS COVERED INCLUDE

Assessment of horse and rider

​

Equine anatomy, physiology and biomechanics

​

Assessment of horse and rider asymmetry, balance, ability and performance in the saddle

​

How the horse influences the rider

​

Remedial saddle fit

​

Prescriptive exercise in relation to remedial saddle fit

​

How the rider influences the horse and its movement

​

How the saddle influences performance of horse and rider

Comparisons of saddle type and their influence on the horse in various disciplines

​

Use of pads and their purpose for remedial fit

​
